Cleardetections

In July 2021 we celebrated the closure of the Iternational Year of Plant Health 2020, which included the results of the contest "Plant Health TV: Research that helps Plant Health". This video contest is an initiative of Euphresco and the CIHEAM which aims to increase the visibility of plant health research activities and celebrate the work and dedication of scientists. Check here the submitted videos.
We are proud to announce that ClearDetections won the third price in the contest! Our video introduces to new viewers the threat of Panama Disease. Panama disease has been threatening banana production since the 80´s. This disease is caused by a soil-borne fungus called Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Cubense (Foc) Tropical race 4 (TR4). Despite multiple efforts to contain it, Panama disease has spread globally, reaching Colombia in 2019. There is no known fungicide to eliminate Foc TR4 from contaminated plant and soil materials. Hence, an early detection is key to avoid the spread of this terrible disease. In our company, we offer a Real-Time PCR kit for the detection of Foc TR4 from plant samples, and we are now working to improve the detection of Foc TR4 spores in soil samples.
